planting hundreds of roses. In the
summer, the scent from these old
varieties is just incredible.”
The Old Hall is often booked by large
groups wishing to gather together for
special celebrations. It is also, however,
ideal for conferences, meetings and
business away days, offering a
completely different experience to a
hotel stay.
Some guests to the house, which is just
15 minutes from Norwich, choose to
explore the glorious surroundings while
others just wish to indulge in the
experience of the manor itself.
Trips out can be arranged for guests and
activities as diverse as archery, chocolate
tasting and beauty therapies can also be
brought to the house.
While the Old Hall, which was featured
by the Independent as one of the best
50 places to stay in Britain, is booked on
a self-catering basis, Janine can arrange
for fine meals to be brought in.
This can be in the form of a pop-up
restaurant experience, from renowned
caterers Bespoke, or delicious, home-
cooked meals can be delivered for guests
to serve themselves.
“Guests love this. They go up to dress
for dinner while the team prepares the
food, lights the candles and the fire, and
lays the table. They are then greeted
with champagne on a silver tray. After
the meal, everything is cleared up – and
it is as if the fairies have been!
“We can also arrange for our local fish
and chip man to bring his van to cook
for guests to eat either in the garden or
round a roaring fire or we can ask fine
Indian cuisine caterers Ethnic Fusion to
deliver some of their delicious, freshly
cooked food.”
Janine adds: “What we have found is
that people love to lose themselves in
the whole experience of being here.
“By coming to the Old Hall they are able
to live out their dreams, spending time
in a quintessential Elizabethan country
house, as if it were their very own.”
